1:1 Coaching
How It Works, What to Expect, and How to Prepare
What This type of Coaching Actually Is
This is not motivational coaching. It's not accountability check-ins dressed up as transformation. And it's not therapy with a different name.
1:1 coaching at ALT workspace is a structured, client-directed engagement built on two decades of applied experience across therapeutic modalities, business and marketing strategy, and human behaviour frameworks. It's designed for people who already have the skills, the intelligence, and the track record, but who recognise that the next level requires a different kind of work than what got them here.
The approach integrates principles from the Robbins-Madanes school of Strategic Intervention coaching, hypnotherapy, NLP, and real-world business and marketing strategy. It draws on an established framework of six core human needs (certainty, variety, significance, connection, growth, and contribution) to identify the underlying drivers behind your decisions, your patterns, and the places where what you want and what you actually do are out of sync.
Every person prioritises these needs differently. That priority hierarchy shapes everything: how you lead, how you market yourself, how you handle visibility, how you respond under pressure, how you relate to money, and what unconsciously drives the decisions you tell yourself are rational. The coaching process makes these dynamics visible so you can work with them deliberately instead of being run by them on autopilot.
This is not about fixing what's broken. It's about understanding the operating system you've been running on and deciding whether it still serves where you're going.
Who This Is For
You've built something real. A business, a career, a body of work, a reputation; And something about it no longer fits.
Maybe the model that made you successful is now the thing creating friction. Maybe you've outgrown an identity, a market position, or a way of working and you can feel the gap between who you've been and who you're becoming. Maybe you've hit a ceiling that no amount of strategy, hustle, or discipline seems to break through, and you're starting to suspect the constraint isn't external.
You're not looking for someone to tell you what to do. You're looking for someone who can see the thing you can't see, name it clearly, and help you restructure from the inside out.
This coaching works best for people who are ready to be honest about what's actually going on beneath the surface, not just what looks good on paper.
The Recommended Starting Point:
Your Transformation Archetype
Before we work together, there is a step that makes everything that follows sharper.
The ALT workspace Transformation Archetype Diagnostic is a self-assessment designed specifically for established professionals and business owners navigating reinvention. It maps your natural patterns across four core dimensions:
Energy Orientation
how you restore energy, process experience, and engage with the world (or withdraw from it) to refuel. This is not a static personality trait. It shifts with environment, life stage, and load.
Reality Filter
how you determine what is true. Whether you require tangible, evidence-based proof before accepting something, or whether you trust intuition and pattern recognition before the data catches up.
Decision Compass
how you navigate and choose a course of action. Whether you lead with strategic logic and analytical discernment, or with relational intelligence, values, and emotional truth.
Change Style
how you move through transition. Whether you navigate change through structured planning and defined steps, or through adaptive flow, openness, and intuitive timing.
There is also a fifth element,
Conflict Style, which is assessed manually as part of a post-assessment debrief consultation. This dimension reveals how you engage with or avoid conflict in the external world and how that pattern impacts your internal experience.
Your result produces one of sixteen Transformation Archetypes.
These are not personality boxes or static labels. They are identity mirrors: language for the deeper pattern you may have been operating from without ever fully naming it. And depending on whether your answers reflect who you've been or who you're becoming, the archetype shifts accordingly. It's intended to shift, because when the deeper stories you reinforce about yourself change, everything shifts.
The diagnostic also identifies a Secondary Influence, the archetype that represents your growth edge and the pattern you default to under pressure.
Why this matters for coaching:
Your archetype result gives both of us a shared language and a structural map from the very first conversation. Instead of spending the first three sessions figuring out where you are, we start with clarity. The diagnostic surfaces the internal narrative that's been running the show, the default patterns that shape how you lead, how visible you allow yourself to be, and where the old story is most likely to pull you back. That means the coaching engagement is precise from day one.
How the Coaching Works
This is client-directed work.
That means you set the agenda. The engagement adapts to where you are and what you need most, not the other way around.
Some clients come in with a clear business or marketing challenge. They need to reposition, restructure their offer, build visibility, develop a go-to-market strategy, or figure out why growth has stalled despite doing "all the right things." The coaching meets them there with practical, experienced-based strategy.
Other clients come in knowing the challenge is more internal. Confidence. Self-sabotage. Identity friction after a major transition. The inability to show up visibly despite having genuine expertise. A pattern of over-delivering and under-charging. The coaching meets them there too, using the same depth of framework but with a different orientation.
Most clients, if they're honest, need both.
The business strategy that doesn't account for the founder's internal blocks will hit the same ceiling. The personal development work that never translates into tangible business outcomes stays theoretical. ALT workspace coaching holds both simultaneously because in practice, they are not separate.
Here's what the engagement typically looks like:
**Phase 1: Orientation and clarity.
This phase establishes where you are, where you want to go, and what's actually in the way. If you've completed the Transformation Archetype Diagnostic, we start with your result as the foundation. If you haven't, we begin with a comprehensive intake process that covers similar ground.
We identify your primary and secondary need drivers (from the six human needs framework), map them against your current situation, and get clear on the specific patterns that are creating friction, stalling momentum, or keeping you playing smaller than you're capable of.
By the end of this phase, you have a clear picture of the internal operating system that's been running your decisions, and a shared understanding of what needs to shift.
**Phase 2: Targeted work.
This is where the engagement becomes fully client-directed. Based on what surfaces in Phase 1, we focus on the area that will create the most leverage for you right now.
That might look like:
Strategic repositioning of your business, offer structure, or market positioning. Building a visibility and personal brand strategy that actually aligns with how you operate (not a template borrowed from someone with a completely different archetype). Identifying and dismantling a specific self-sabotage pattern, success ceiling, or confidence block. Developing decision-making frameworks that account for both your strategic mind and your emotional reality. Navigating a career transition, business pivot, or identity shift with clarity rather than chaos. Implementing AI tools, automation, or systems to buy back your time and reduce operational overwhelm.
The modality used in any given session depends on what the situation requires. Some sessions are pure coaching: direct, strategic, action-oriented. Others draw on NLP techniques, reframing, or guided intervention when the constraint is subconscious rather than strategic. If a deeper subconscious block surfaces, RTT or hypnotherapy may be recommended as a complementary session (these are separate from the coaching engagement but integrate directly with the work).
**Phase 3: Integration and momentum.
Change that doesn't translate into sustained action is just an interesting conversation. This phase focuses on embedding the shifts into your actual life and work: new behaviours, new decision-making patterns, new ways of operating that feel natural rather than forced. We review what's landed, what's still in motion, and where the old patterns are most likely to reassert themselves.
For clients focused on business and marketing outcomes, this phase often includes implementation support: reviewing strategy execution, refining messaging, troubleshooting what's not converting, and ensuring the external positioning matches the internal shift.
The Six Human Needs:
Why This Framework Matters
Every coaching engagement at ALT workspace is partially informed by the six human needs framework, developed through the work of Tony Robbins and Cloe Madanes in Strategic Intervention coaching.
The premise is straightforward: six core needs drive every decision you make, every behaviour you repeat, and every pattern you find yourself stuck in.
They are:
**Certainty
the need for safety, security, stability, and predictability. The drive to know that you can avoid pain and create comfort.
**Variety
the need for change, stimulation, challenge, and novelty. The drive to break patterns, take risks, and feel alive.
**Significance
the need to feel important, unique, needed, or special. The drive to know that you matter and that your work has weight.
**Connection
the need for closeness, belonging, love, and union. The drive to feel bonded with others and part of something beyond yourself.
**Growth
the need for expansion, learning, development, and forward movement. The drive to become more than you currently are.
**Contribution
the need to give, serve, and add value beyond your own life. The drive to leave something meaningful behind.
Everyone has all six. But the two or three you prioritise most heavily, often unconsciously, create your psychological blueprint. That blueprint determines your default behaviours, your emotional triggers, your relationship with money and visibility, your leadership style, and the specific ways you get in your own way.
Here is why this matters practically:
A business owner whose top need is certainty will unconsciously avoid the risks required for growth, even when they intellectually know the risk is calculated and necessary.
A professional whose top need is significance will struggle to delegate, because their identity is tied to being the one who does it best.
Someone driven primarily by connection will consistently undercharge, overdeliver, and sacrifice boundaries to maintain relational harmony at their own expense.
None of these patterns are character flaws. They are strategies that once worked. The coaching process identifies which strategies have become outdated and helps you install ones that serve the life and business you're building now, not the one you outgrew.
The Transformation Archetype Diagnostic maps directly to these need dynamics. Your archetype result includes an indication of your dominant need hierarchy and how it shows up in your specific pattern. This gives the coaching work a structural foundation that goes deeper than surface-level goal setting.
What Coaching Does Not Replace
Coaching is not therapy, psychiatric care, or crisis intervention. It is designed for people who are psychologically stable and functioning well, but who recognise that subconscious patterns, outdated identity structures, or strategic blind spots are creating a ceiling on what's possible.
If you're currently in acute mental health crisis, this is not the right starting point. If you're working with a therapist or psychologist, coaching can complement that work effectively, but it doesn't replace it.
Coaching also does not replace the need for specialised professional advice in areas like law, finance, or medicine. If your situation requires that kind of expertise, we'll name it directly.
Online or In-Person
Coaching sessions are conducted online via Zoom. This is deliberate. The flexibility of online sessions means the work fits into your life without requiring travel or schedule disruption, and the quality of the conversation is identical.
If in-person sessions become available (through future intensive workshops or retreats), you'll be notified through the waitlist system ... details are below.
How to Prepare for Coaching
Before your first session:
Take the Transformation Archetype Diagnostic. This is the recommended entry point. It gives both of us a shared map and ensures we start from clarity rather than spending early sessions in discovery mode.
If you choose to skip the diagnostic, complete the intake form so I have context on your situation before we begin.
Spend ten minutes writing down what you'd most want to shift if you knew it was possible. Don't edit or filter. Write what's true, not what sounds reasonable. This becomes the foundation of our first conversation.
For each session:
Come with what's live. The most productive sessions work with whatever is most present for you right now, whether that's a strategic decision, a relationship dynamic, a pattern you noticed, or something you can't quite name but know is affecting your work.
Be willing to be honest. Not performatively honest. Actually honest. The coaching is only as effective as the information it has access to.
After sessions:
Integration happens between sessions, not during them. Pay attention to what surfaces in the days following. Notice which patterns show up differently. Take notes. Bring what you observe to the next session.

When Coaching Isn't Enough: Going Deeper with RTT or QHHT is an option
Sometimes the coaching conversation reveals a subconscious block that strategic work alone can't shift. A belief installed so early and so deeply that no amount of reframing, journaling, or action planning dislodges it.
When that happens, the conversation doesn't just stop there. It goes deeper, when you're ready.
Want to Go Deeper?
Rapid Transformation Therapy (RTT)
RTT is a precision tool for identified patterns. If you can name the specific block (imposter syndrome, a success ceiling, a confidence pattern, self-sabotage in predictable situations), RTT accesses the subconscious root cause and rewires it directly.
Available online or in-person. Single issues are typically resolved in one to three sessions.
Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT)
QHHT is a deeper level for broader, less individually defined inquiries. Meaning many different aspects can be covered at once. If the challenge is existential rather than specific (purpose, direction, persistent misalignment, patterns with no obvious origin), QHHT provides a depth of exploration that conventional methods cannot reach, including 'past life regression'.
In-person only. Single session.
Both modalities integrate directly with the coaching work. They are not separate tracks. They are deeper layers of the same process.
